Desk Top Publisher

Desktop Publisher(Printer/Publishing House)

At an ad agency you may be known as a Production Artist or Graphic Designer; however, as a Desktop Publisher you will more likely work at a printing or publishing house.

Being a highly organized communicator with a sharp eye for detail, graphics, and visually appealing layouts is a must.

You are the first person – and in many cases the last – a piece sees before reaching a mass audience. No sweat. You design or change page layouts, reproduce artwork, set types or fonts, and adjust colors – all with a grin on your face.

Pieces you might produce include: books, booklets, brochures, business cards, calendars, newsletters, newspapers, manuals (training and technical), stationary, and in-house magazines.

Typically, you will be working closely with a team of graphic designers, writers, and editors; while reporting to the Production Manager.

Tools of the Trade: Microsoft Word; InDesign; Illustrator; Photoshop.

Salary: $$
