GUIDE TO CREATIVE POSITIONS

Editor

You are original, ingenious, and detail oriented; guided by the drive of influencing, motivating, and persuading others.

Every publication has its own set of guidelines for style, and it’s your job to make sure all content adheres to your particular audience.

As you launch your career, you will check facts, correct usage and grammar mistakes, be aware libel laws, and fix wordy prose and awkward transitions. Soon you will decide on stories to run, photos to use, and layouts to create. In the positions of senior editor or editor-in-chief, you will ensure your publication’s editorial policy is carried out.

You’ll plan, coordinate, revise, and correct material for print and digital publications, transforming a good piece of writing into an extraordinary composition based on what subjects and writing styles will appeal the most to readers.
